Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state visited the headquarters of the 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Maimalari Cantonment to officially receive the Boko Haram hostages by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Major General Victor Ezegwu.
What he discovered was shocking– a 9-year-old girl whose name has been withheld had embarked on a hunger strike lasting 3 days with a surprising demand– she wanted to go back to her Boko Haram husband in Sambisa.
The girl was among 65 young girls rescued from Sambisa forest where Boko haram have a stronghold. She has insisted that she wants to go back to her husband.
It was also discovered that around 12 girls were pregnant and other had already given birth.
The Vanguard reports that observation of the rescued hostages comprising 27 children and over 30 young girls with a few women has revealed to them that most have been taken in by the Boko Haram sect and are believers in what they do as many of them claimed they have been with the sect for the past three years. They also claimed that they were willing to go back to Sambisa to meet their husbands.
