A bomb has hit an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Yola, Adamawa State, killing 7 people and injuring 20 others.
According to a spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency, Sani Datti “So far seven persons lost their lives and 20 persons were injured in the bomb blast that occurred in Malkohi Internally Displaced Persons camp.
“Among the injured, seven were treated and discharged while 13 persons including four NEMA officials are still receiving treatment.”
The blast which occurred at 11.00am was said to have been caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) hidden in one of the tents in the camp.
Reports say IDPs, officials of NEMA and some persons on volunteer duty from the American University of Nigeria (AUN) were the casualties of the blast.
Though no group has claimed responsibility for the blast, many believe that the dreaded Boko Haram terrorist group are most likely behind it.
