The Nigerian Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka has been selected to officiate a boxing match between a former governor of Lagos state, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and five-time world Heavyweight Boxing champion, Evander Holyfield.
The boxing match between the duo themed “Rhumbles in Lagos” will hold on May 25 at the Eko Atlantic City.
Speaking ahead of the exhibition match, Tinubu who endorsed the Bola Ahmed Tinubu vs Holyfield fight said: “I can’t wait to knock Evander down. I’m the real champion of the world!”
Speaking on the boxing match, the project manager, Foluke Michael, revealed that the private-sector organised event is a apart of the 50th anniversary celebration marking the creation of Lagos State.
She said: “Significantly, it is aimed at bringing world attention to some health-related issues in Africa, and will focus on cases such as Autism in Children, Breast Cancer, Mental Illness and HIV/AIDS and River Blindness.”
