Boko Haram: Why Chadian president should be commended – Shehu Sani

Senator Shehu Sani says Chadian troops and President Idriss Deby deserve commendation and praise for recent defeats over Boko Haram terrorists.

Recall that Chadians troops had launched an offensive against the insurgents in the Goje-Chadian area of Sambisa forest, a stronghold of Boko Haram.

It was learnt that the operation, led by Chadian President Idriss Déby, lasted for hours with the soldiers clearing the insurgents off the area.

Chadian troops led by President Idriss Deby have been praised by some Nigerians for recording strings of victories over Boko Haram insurgents in the Lake Chad Basin area.

Speaking on the victory, Sani said the troops should be commended for their victories over the insurgents, Nigerians should not demean the sacrifices of Nigerian troops on the ground who have left their families behind.

Sani who disclosed this via his Twitter handle said: “The Chadian troops and President Idriss Deby deserves all commendation and praises;but we shouldn’t demean the sacrifices of our own troops on the ground,who have families they left behind.We should support and encourage them to succeed while holding their leadership to account,”

Earlier, The Herald reported that at least 45 Chadian Soldiers Allegedly lost their lives after a Boko Haram attack on their forces in the lake Chad basin.

According to reports from military sources as well as international journalists in the region, the attack is one of the deadliest ever against the Chadian military.

The slain Soldiers were said to be members of the multinational joint task force (MNJTF) stationed at the village of Boguma within the lake Chad basin.

Boko haram fighters also ambushed a convoy of Nigeria soldiers in Alargano, Borno State on Monday killing more than 70 and abducting scores of others.
