A suspected Boko Haram suicide bomber attacked a Mosque at Jidari Polo in Maiduguri at about 5.05am on Friday, killing nine and injuring eleven people.
It was gathered that six worshippers were killed and 11 injured. More victims had been evacuated from the scene of the blast which took place at the back of a magistrate court.
Reports however indicate that three more persons have been confirmed dead. The fresh deaths were among those injured taken to the Maiduguri General Hospital.
The explosion occurred during the dawn (subh) Muslim prayers.
The suicide bomber came into the mosque with explosives strapped on him.
Abdulkadir Ibrahim, spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), put the death toll at six.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but Ibrahim blamed the Boko Haram sect, which has been trying to carve out a state in the northeast of Nigeria since 2009.
In a similar fashion, a bomb went off at a mosque in Yola, the capital of Damaturu in north-east Nigeria.
The blast occurred at the mosque in Jambutu on Friday afternoon while worshipers were getting ready for prayers.
No group has claimed responsibility for both attacks.
