The National Economic Council has given the Federal Government the go-ahead to withdraw $1 billion from the nation’s Excess Crude Account to fight insurgency in the North East.
The Excess Crude Account currently contains $2.3 billion, The Punch reported.
The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki made this known while addressing newsmen after the council meeting presided over by the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Obaseki added that the funds would be expended on security equipment , procurement of intelligence and logistics, among others.
