A witness who survived Saturday’s attack on the village of Dalori, Maiduguri in Borno State, by hiding on a tree, has recounted the harrowing moment children were burnt to death by Boko Haram insurgents.
According to the witness who spoke to the Associated Press under condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals, he could hear the screams of children as they burnt to their death, from the tree he hid until soldiers came on Sunday morning to rescue him.
Other witnesses narrated how they saw charred bodies littering the road with visible signs of bullet wounds on them.
Dalori village is 5 kilometres from Maiduguri, which is the largest in the Northeast geo-political zone of the country and one of the hardest hit by the 6-year insurgency which has led to the death of thousands and the displacement of a whole lot more.
