Three soldiers valiantly lost their lives to Boko Haram insurgents who attacked a military base in Nigeria’s northeastern Borno state
According to The Punch, the insurgents who are believed to be part of the IS-affiliated Islamic State West Africa Province, attacked the base and initially prevailed but were thwarted when Aerial support arrived
“We lost three soldiers in the fight and several others are still missing,” said a military soldier
“The terrorists were smoked out of the base by a fighter jet which deployed to the scene,”
According to The Punch, a civilian militia who fought alongside the army confirmed the death of the soldiers

“The bodies of three soldiers were recovered after the attack,
“More troops have arrived in Kareto but most residents have not returned,”
Boko Haram have been stepping up their activities recently, attacking a village on Wednesday killing one person and burning the entire village and then going on to steal cattle and other items
“The insurgents came around 11:00 pm (2200 GMT) and opened indiscriminate fire,” a source for the Punch, Muhammad Mammanti said.
“They killed one person and burnt the whole village and stole our cattle,” he added
This slew of attacks comes after the government had stated that Boko Haram was in effect, dead and gone
