The Nigeria Army is proving that it is on course to meet the December deadline set by President Muhammadu Buhari to eradicate the menace of Boko Haram insurgency in the country has it has confirmed the killing of two Boko Haram insurgents and the rescue of 16 families in Adamawa State.
This was revealed by the Commanding Officer of the 28th Taskforce Battalion, Mubi Adamawa State, Brig.-Gen. V.O. Ezugwu, on Wednesday.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Ezugwu stated that the success was recorded on Tuesday in an encounter with fleeing insurgents in Madagali Local Government Area of the state.
NAN also quoted Ezugwu as saying that two AK47 rifles, six grenades and two pump action machine guns were recovered from the insurgents, alongside 100 cows and 18 motorcycles.
The Commanding Officer applauded the courage of the troops and praised the efforts of the vigilante groups working in tandem with the military to root out the terrorist sect.
