Nigerian crossdresser Bobrisky has filed a lawsuit against social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) over an audio clip alleging he bribed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officials with N15 million.
The audio, posted on VDM’s social media, claims Bobrisky bribed officials to drop money laundering charges and spent his six-month jail term outside prison due to Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) officials’ complicity. However, Bobrisky denies the allegations, stating the voice recording is Artificial Intelligence (AI) generated.
In a letter shared on his Facebook page, Bobrisky’s legal team demanded that VDM delete the audio clip immediately, issue a public apology in two national newspapers, record a video apology for all social media platforms, cease publishing defamatory content about Bobrisky, and pay N1 billion in damages within 24 hours.
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana has also responded to allegations against him in the audio, issuing an ultimatum to VDM. Falana’s daughter, Folakemi, threatened legal action against VDM for defaming her father.
The EFCC has launched an investigation into the bribery allegations, inviting Bobrisky and VDM to cooperate. This development is the latest in the ongoing controversy surrounding Bobrisky’s legal issues and VDM’s activism.
