Blogger Arrested For Defaming UBA MD,

Desmond Ike Chima, a Nigerian Blogger has been arrested by the Federal Criminal Investigation Department for defaming Philip Oduoza, group managing director of United Bank of Africa (UBA).

 

Chima who was prosecuted before Igbosere High Court wrote a story involving Oduoza and superstar actress, Genevieve Nnaji.

The article titled “Randy UBA MD, Phillips Oduoza in Adultery Mess, Romances Star Actress, Genevieve Nnaji,” alleged that Philips Oduoza’s wife is set to divorce because of an extra-marital affair with Genevieve Nnaji.

 

The Charge read in part: “That you Desmond Ike Chima and others still at large at the said date and place did publish or distribute an article deemed to be obscene against Phillips Oduoza entitled: RANDY UBA PLC MD, PHILLIPS ODUOZA’S WIFE TO DIVORCE HIM OVER AFFAIR WITH ACTRESS GENEVIEVE NNAJI.”

He said that the accused wrote the article with the intent of extorting gain from the complainant by accusing him of defrauding the management of UBA Pls using his company, Afriland Properties.

 

” Obiazi noted that the offences the accused committed are punishable under section 409, 150(1) and 301(1) of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2011.

 

Although Chima pleaded not guilty to the charges, he was granted bail to the sum of N100,000.

The case has been adjourned till the 30th of October.
