#BlackLivesMatter: Outrage As Wisconsin Police Officers Shoot Unarmed Black Man 7 Times

2 Min Read

Police in the city of Kenosha, Wisconsin have become the object of severe criticism after footage emerged of the moment some officers shot an unarmed black man in the back multiple times.

In the video circulating on Twitter, the unarmed man can be seen alighting from the passenger side of his car and walking towards the driver’s side.

Two armed police officers can be seen pulling back the man from entering the vehicle.

However, when the man refused to stop, multiple shots ring out from the officer’s firearms. At least seven shots can be heard.

The man then slumps on the wheel of his car, as the car horn blares.

The man is said to be in critical condition in the hospital.

Police later said they were called to address a domestic disturbance, although it was not immediately clear who made the call.

In a statement released shortly after the incident, Wisconsin Governor, Tony Evers said, “Tonight, Jacob Blake was shot in the back multiple times, in broad daylight, in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Kathy and I join his family, friends, and neighbors in hoping earnestly that he will not succumb to his injuries.

“While we do not have all of the details yet, what we know for certain is that he is not the first Black man or person to have been shot or injured or mercilessly killed at the hands of individuals in law enforcement in our state or our country.”
