The Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has made his stand known on the widespread issue of Family Planning and Birth Control.
In a live broadcast speech in Istanbul on Monday, May 30, the Turkish president urged muslims to shun contraception and birth more children.
He said: “We will multiply our descendants. They talk about population planning, birth control. No Muslim family can have such approach. Nobody can interfere in God’s work. The first duty here belongs to mothers.”
Recall that Erdogan had in similar vein kicked against contraception and its use as he described the act as ‘treason’ at a wedding event in 2015.
The Turkish president in his live broadcast further implored “well-educated future mothers” to shun the act of contraceptive use in order to further grow the Turkish population.
“For years they committed the treason of birth control in this country, seeking to dry up our bloodline. Lineage is very important both economically and spiritually,” he added.
Erdogan who is a father of four also called on Turkish couples to have at least three children in order to further boost the country’s population.
