Josephine Otabor, popularly known as Phyna and winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7, has responded to recent reports that suggested she abandoned her family after clinching the reality show’s N100 million grand prize.
In a recent interview with Vanguard, Phyna’s father expressed disappointment, stating that she had seemingly forgotten her family after her victory on the reality show. He disclosed that he had not seen her since the announcement of her win, contrary to their expectations that their family’s struggles would diminish.
Moreover, he alleged that Phyna had asked him to give up his job as a hearse driver and sell his vehicles. He did so, but the expected assistance did not materialize, leaving him jobless and struggling.
In response to these allegations, Phyna took to X, a microblogging platform, to express her heartbreak over the news. She indicated her intention to address the issue live on her Instagram page.
She tweeted, “In the history of dragging ….. this is the first time I cried and it touched me 💔 Let’s meet later on Instagram live.”
In a subsequent post, she criticized Vanguard for incessantly reaching out to her through calls and text messages. She strongly implied she would take legal action against the news outlet for publishing the report and alleged distress her father is facing.
Phyna stated, “I think it’s time for me to sue this useless Vanguard. They’ve been tormenting me with texts and calls.”
She further revealed an encounter with a Vanguard reporter who had reached out to her and was pushy with his questions. She threatened legal action and insisted that she would not let the matter rest.
