The 59 victims of recent killings by Fulani herdsmen in Guma and Logo LGAs of Benue State will be given mass burial on Thursday.
According to The Punch, quoting Terver Akase, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue, the mass burial will be preceded by a memorial service at the IBB Square, Makurdi 10am.
The 59 victims include 10 persons killed on Saturday and 49 others deposited at different mortuaries across the state.
The report quoted Akase as saying that the victims will be buried in their localities. Thirty nine of the victims were from Guma and the remaining 20 from Logo.
The governor’s spokesman said the victims were heroes who died for the safety of the state.
