Benue First Lady Leads Walk Against Gender-based Violence Days After Reconciling Dr. Angbo with Abusive Husband

The wife to the Governor of Benue state, Dr. Eunice Ortom on Thursday led an awareness walk against gender-based violence in Makurdi few days after joining her husband to publicly reconcile Dr. Angbo with her abusive husband.

The walk was part of the activities slated to mark the closing ceremony of this year’s #16daysofactivism against Gender-based violence.

Mrs Ortom led the participants through major streets in the Benue state capital.

She however ended the walk at an hotel where a dissemination meeting was being held.

Speaking at the meeting, the Governor’s wife urged participants not to take the end of the #16daysofactivism activities as an end to the fight against gender-based violence in the state.

“This is rather the time to build on the observations and experiences of the period in order to be more determined and committed to ending gender based violence in Benue state”, She said.

However recall that on the 8th of December, 2020, Dr. Ortom and her husband, Governor  Samuel Ortom took it upon themselves to persuade Dr. Ifeyinwa Angbo to reconcile with her abusive husband, Pius, a Channels Television reporter.

Dr. Angbo who had earlier been severely battered still bore fresh scars with wounds that had barely gone through the healing phase.

Also recall that Pius was dismissed without any consequences for his actions.
