In what has been a rather eventful day, the Benue State House of Assembly has impeached Honourable Terkimbi Ikyange, as its speaker.
The now ousted speaker was a card carrying member of the All Progressives Congress (APC)
Ikyange was impeached after a motion of no confidence was moved by Honourable Richard Ujege, who represents Konshisha state constituency.
The no confidence vote was supported by 21 members out of the 30-man Assembly giving the decision the upper hand.
Ikyange was not even present at the impeachment but the house Clerk was present at the session.
A little while after, the assembly elected Honorable Titus Uba of PDP, a lawmaker representing Kyan state constituency as its new Speaker.
This is just another blow for the APC as earlier today, 37 members of the house of reps defected to PDP.
