Benjamin Sesko: Manchester United hold talks with Red Bull Salzburg over striker, valuation gap remains

4 Min Read
Sesko

According to Beton.ng, Manchester United has held discussions with Red Bull Salzburg over signing Benjamin Sesko, the Express can reveal.

The striker has been in sensational form since joining the Austrian side from LASK Linz and has caught the eye of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Manchester United and Napoli.

However, despite Manchester United holding talks with Red Bull Salzburg, there remains a huge gap in valuation between the two clubs as they look to agree on a deal this summer.

The teenager has only made 10 first-team appearances since joining the Austrian side last summer and has scored one goal, but he is considered to have plenty of potential and it is hoped that he will eventually follow in the footsteps of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Sadio Mane by becoming one of Europe’s most sought after strikers.

They continue to monitor his progress, having watched him at close quarters last month.

Manchester United are in talks with Red Bull Salzburg over a move for their striker Benjamin Sesko, but there is still a gap in valuation between the two clubs.

The 19-year-old has been one of the most prolific strikers in Europe this season, scoring 27 goals in 28 games for the Austrian side.

United has been monitoring his progress closely and sent scouts to watch him at close quarters last month. However, there is still some way to go before a deal can be agreed upon, with Salzburg believed to be holding out for a fee of around €50 million.

United are thought to be unwilling to meet that asking price at this stage, but they could revisit their interest in the summer if he continues to progress at his current rate.

Yet sources from within the player’s camp say that the valuation gap between both clubs persists. It would be shocking if this doesn’t get resolved soon because of all the progress made in negotiations so far. The bottom line is that all parties want this deal to happen and at this point, I’m expecting them to find common ground quickly and get a transfer done before the deadline day in January.

Sesko’s contract expires next summer, and the expectation is that he will commit himself to Jose Mourinho’s side before then.

Talks are believed to be at an early stage, but the Old Trafford hierarchy is said to be big admirers of the 19-year-old.

Sesko has been in prolific form for club and country this season, scoring 27 goals in 32 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg. He has also found the back of the net three times in four games for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The forward is valued at around £40 million by his club, but it is thought that Manchester United would be willing to pay closer to £25 million.

To recap…

Manchester United have held talks with Red Bull Salzburg over a potential move for their striker, Benjamin Sesko. However, it is believed that there is still a significant gap in valuation between the two clubs, with United unwilling to meet Salzburg’s asking price. This could prove to be a stumbling block in any potential deal. It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can come to an agreement.
