Belgium issues visas to six home-based players; Oliseh picks two

2 Min Read

The Embassy of Belgium in Nigeria on Wednesday finally issued entry visas to the six home-based players invited by Super Eagles coach, Sunday Oliseh for the friendly games against Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon, a tweet on the Super Eagles official Twitter account confirmed.

The embassy was supposed to have issued the visas on Friday but delayed for an undisclosed reason, a move which made Oliseh direct the boys to go over to the Port Harcourt camp of the home-based Eagles, where the team is preparing for its CHAN preparations.

The coach however invited two out of the six to help bolster his team in Belgium but said they will not be part of today’s game against DR Congo.

The two are Sharks defender Chima Akas and Austin Oboroakpo of Abia warriors.

According to the statement: “Belgian embassy finally give visas to domestic based players who are to join the team in Belgium,” the Super Eagles tweet said.

“But Coach Oliseh has opted for only two of them, Chima Akas (Sharks FC), Austin Oboroakpo (Abia Warriors).

“Other officials who will travel include: Goal Keepers trainer Alloy Agu, Dr. Ibrahim Gyaran, Chidi Ngoka, NFF DGS Emmanuel Ikpeme and Media Manager Toyin Ibitoye.”
