Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Beauty Tukura, has finally addressed the controversy surrounding her win at the ninth edition of the prestigious African Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA). As the 43rd Miss Nigeria, Beauty was crowned the best dressed female at the star-studded event held on Saturday, May 20. However, her victory triggered a wave of mixed reactions online, with some individuals arguing that there were more deserving dresses at the event.
There were also accusations that Beauty had resorted to buying Instagram likes to boost her chances of winning the coveted award category.
In a recent interview on the popular “Me, Her, and Everything Else” podcast, Beauty Tukura opened up about her unexpected win and shared her perspective on the whole ordeal. She admitted that she was genuinely taken aback by the announcement and never anticipated emerging as the best dressed female. Being her first time attending the AMVCA, Beauty confessed that she didn’t fully grasp the intricacies of the award show’s operations. All she knew was that there was a cash prize of #500,000 for the best dressed male and female.
When Beauty was declared the winner, she found herself hesitating to go up on stage and accept the award. However, her senior colleague and fellow Big Brother Naija alum, Tobi Bakre, encouraged her to seize the moment. Still overwhelmed by the unexpected turn of events, Beauty reluctantly ascended the stage. It was at that moment that she realized she was expected to deliver a speech, a task she was unprepared for due to her stunned state of mind.
