Queen Favour Makolo, 2019-2020 Miss Igala Beauty Pegeant winner has called on youths across the country to shun illicit drugs use for them to fulfill their dreams.

The Beauty Queen made the call during a Sensitisation Peace Walk Against Drug Abuse organised for the youths in collaboration with Confluence Concept Productions Limited (CCPL) on Saturday in Lokoja.
Makolo noted that illicit drug use among the youth had hindered many young people from fulfilling their dreams .
“Drug abuse has been a major issue globally and we have been trying to preach against it because it is actually hindering the youth of this generation from fulfilling their dreams.
“We are in a collective effort with conventional and social media as well as media influencers here to talk and preach against drug abuse so that as youths and leaders of tomorrow, we can have fulfill dreams”, she said
Makolo, the 200-level student of History and International Studies at the Federal University, Lokoja, also said drug use and addiction should therefore, be nipped with adequate sensitization and awareness creation.
She explained that drug abuse was now rampant among children from the age of 13 as a result of peer pressure with nobody to tell them the implications.
Makolo further said the campaign had three segments, adding that: ” aside the peace walk, we are going to have a seminar on drug abuse in each of the three senatorial districts of Kogi state”.
“After that, we are going to be doing a Catch-Them-Young program. This will involve secondary schools because students from secondary schools have to be aware of the consequences associated with consuming ban substance”, the Queen said.
She said: “as leaders of tomorrow, if we start using drugs now, I do not think when that tomorrow comes we will benefit from the package that comes with it”.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the youths carrying placard with various inscriptions started their peace walk from Ganaja junction to Government House gate, Lokoja.
Some of the inscriptions on of the placards read: “Stay Off Drugs and Fulfill Your Dreams”; “Say No To illicit Drug Use”; “Stop Using Drugs To Be Better”; and “ A Drug-free Nation Begins With You.”
