The All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange lost 0.29% today as investors remained on the side lines, unsure of the economic policies of the present administration. The All Share Index lost 0.19% yesterday and depreciated by by 84 basis points to end the day at 29,052.87 basis points. Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was below the N10 Trillion psychological line at N9.98 Trillion.
A total of 3,287 deals were recorded on the floor today, 13.89% more than 2,886 deals recorded yesterday; the total volume of shares traded on the floor were 166,757,958 while the total value of transactions recorded today were N1.12 Billion.
GUINNESS led the gainers chart, adding N6.18 to end the day with a share price of N129.93, followed by OKOMUOIL and DANGCEM which gained N1.18 and N1 to close at N30.20 and N163 respectively; OANDO and NASCON added N0.52 and N0.21 to close at N6.51 and N7.21 respectively.
The Losers chart was led by TOTAL who lost N7.01 to close at N143, followed by UNILEVER and GLAXOSMITH who lost N1.83 and N1.14 to close with share prices of N34.92 and N37.06 respectively; CADBURY and ASHAKACEM lost N1 and N0.89 to close with share prices of N19.15 and N22.11 respectively.
The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were FBNH with 36,025,488 shares valued at N180 million, LAWUNION with 25,200,000 shares valued at N12.6 Million , UBA with 18,222,496 shares valued at N63.3 million, ACCESS with 14,113,756 shares valued at N65 million and OANDO with 10,022,936 shares valued at N64.9 Million; a combined total of 103 million shares traded.
Market breadth closed negative as GUINNESS led 14 Gainers against 28 Losers led by TOTAL.
