The Bayelsa chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has urged youths to resist being used as thugs during the Nov. 16 governorship election in the state.
Mr Ekisah Sinkumo, state’s Chairman of the council gave the advice while addressing newsmen on Sunday in Yenagoa.
“I urge you to resist being used by politicians as thugs to cause violence in the forthcoming election.
“The youth as leader of tomorrow are to ensure peace before, during and after election. You should ensure calm across communities.
“Let us be united in achieving the common goal of moving the state forward,” he said.
Ekisah, however, urged politicians to imbibe the spirit of good sportsmanship, as according to him “there can only be one winner in the governorship race”.
He admonished politicians to support peace advocacy and work in synergy to move the state forward.(NAN)
