A chieftain of one of the two leading political parties in Saturday’s Bayelsa gubernatorial election, whose name was not disclosed, allegedly hijacked election materials, including result sheets in his hometown of Kpansia in Yenagoa Local Government Area.
Eyewitnesses who spoke to Vanguard said the APC chieftain alighted from his black SUV accompanied by some thugs and carted away the materials in ward 9 unit 7 of Yenagoa.
According to Vanguard, the chieftain, after hijacking the materials, forced the INEC officials in charge of the unit to go with them to an undisclosed location.
The results as at the time of the drama was allegedly skewed in favour of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, incumbent Governor Seriake Dickson.
