The government of Bayelsa state has declared 7 days of mourning in honour of former Governor Diepreye Alamieseyeigha, who died last Saturday of cardiac arrest.
The state government in a statement issued on Monday directed all public buildings and offices in the state to fly national flags within their premises at half mast.
The government, Vanguard reported, also cancelled all official engagements to mourn the death of the departed former Air Force officer who passed away aged 63.
Condolence registers have also reportedly been opened at the Government House, Yenagoa; complex housing the Office of the Secretary to the State Government; and Ijaw House, Sani Abacha Way, Yenagoa all in Bayelsa state.
The burial arrangements for the late Alamieyeseigha are yet to be announced by the family, but the government are reportedly working with his family to make sure that the late politician gets a befitting burial.
