Bayelsa state governor, Duoye Diri, has visited former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, on the occasion of his 83rd birthday, declaring that he met him in good health.
The Herald gathered that the governor arrived at the OOPL penthouse residence of the former president at about 5.45 pm, on Monday, March 2.
Diri, in a statement issued by his special assistant to the former president on media, Kehinde Akinyemi, disclosed that the purpose of the visit was to felicitate with Obasanjo on his 83rd birthday, which comes up on Thursday, March 5.
According to him, “I have come to greet my father, our father who is actually the of Nigeria and Africa. I have come to felicitate with him on his forthcoming birthday, which comes up in a few days time. And, I met him in good health and in his good elements.
“That is principally why I have come here today. And he also appreciated my coming. It is my prayer that he will enjoy more years to come and see in his lifetime, the Nigeria of his dream.
“The people should expect good governance and a governor that understands the challenges of the state and ready to proffer solution.
“I am a homegrown governor, the humble and miracle governor. I extend my hand of fellowship to my brothers and sisters of Bayelsa state in this journey.”
