Gunmen suspected to be militants reportedly stormed Amassoma ward of Southern Ijaw local government area where gubernatorial election is being held on Sunday, after being postponed on Saturday for security reasons.
The heavily-armed gunmen shot into the area sporadically, causing voters, INEC officials and journalists monitoring the process to scamper to safety.
While it is still not clear what interest bloc the militants represented, soldiers and other security agencies charged with securing the lives of the INEC ad hoc staff are said to be trying to stop the militants, according to Channels.
