Bauchi ministry to convene Peace Summit for children

Bauchi Sate Ministry for Women Affairs is to convene a Peace Summit for children across the state.

State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Child Development, Mrs Asabe Hamma gave this indication on Friday in Bauchi in her speech to mark the 2016 Children’s Day celebration.

She said children, as leaders of tomorrow, had an important role to play in ensuring that peace reigned in future.

She stated that the summit, which would involve all categories of children, would be held “very soon”.

The Commissioner commended Gov. Mohammed Abubakar for allocating the lion of the 2016 budget to Education and Health sectors.

According to her, the two sectors have direct bearing on the children through improving health care services and quality education.

Meanwhile, some school children in Bauchi have expressed delight for having the opportunity to celebrate this year’s Children’s Day.

One of the students, Maryam Mohammed of Sa’adu Zunguri Secondary School,commended President Buhari for addressing the security challenges in the country, to the extent of rescuing one of the abducted Chibok girls..

Miss Aisha Idris, a student in a Vocational Secondary school in Bauchi, said that children in the North-East zone would forever pray for Presiden Buhari.

Mr Ibrahim Musa, a secondary school student said that the celebration brought back memories of uniting with fellow students from local government areas in the state.
