Bauchi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) on Thursday inaugurated a seven-man Credentials Committee to organize its forthcoming elections, reports the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Inaugurating the committee, outgoing chairman of the council, Malam Dahiru Mohammed, urged the members not to betray the confidence reposed in them.
He advised them to adhere strictly to the electoral guidelines enshrined in the constitution of the NUJ to ensure free and fair elections.
“The selection of the credential committee was done based on merit as all members are capable of discharging such a task successfully.
“In the discharge of its duties, the committee should be guided strictly by the provisions of the constitution of the NUJ,” he advised.
Responding, chairman of the committee, Malam Saidu Umar, thanked the council for considering them worthy of carrying out the task, assuring that they would do their best to conduct a credible election.
