The Acting Sector Commandant of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mahmud Kachalla, told newsmen that the accident occurred in the afternoon between Tsohuwar Gwaram village and Alkaleri town in Bauchi State, involving 18 people in the two cars and a motorcycle. Some of the people were said to be returning from a condolence visit in Jigawa State.
Kachalla said among the ten that died in the crash, there were five female adults, three male adults, a boy and a girl; while of the eight injured, there were five male adults, one female adult and three boys.
He linked the cause of the accident to both over speeding and over loading, pointing out that the Golf had eight people and was on its way to Alkaleri from a condolence visit in Jigawa.
