Chelsea broke Ajax winning streak of two in two as a late goal by Michy Batsuayi put gave the visitors the win and condemned the Dutch champions to what is their first European defeat of the season after being knocked out of last season’s UEFA Champions League Semi-Finals by Tottenham.

Ajax are yet to this season winning 13 of their opening 17 games and picking up draws in the other games.
The Blues made their intentions clear from early on in the match, pressing high and not allowing Ajax the room to build from the back, their preferred style of play, which made it difficult for the home side to produce the kind of quality football they’ve become accustomed to managing the first shot on target in the 60th minute.
Ajax had a goal ruled out for an offside play by VAR in the first half when Quincy Pomes boot was adjudged offside.
Chelsea did deserve their win, they were full of energy and ran the entire 90 minutes, you could say they were the better side on the night. They were more hungry, more adventurous and it seems to mean more to them.
Ajax lost some of their key players after last season’s UCL run that saw them moments shy of reaching the final of the competition, Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong departed the Johan Cruyff Arena but the club had enough talents in its famous academy as suitable replacements. They also made some very good signings to boaster the team.
The win for Chelsea sets up an exciting November 5 fixture when the team will face-off in the second round of games in the group stage.
