Bashir El-rufai, son of Kaduna state Governor Nasir El-Rufai who announced his wedding plans to a certain ‘Nwakaego’ has elicited mixed reactions from Nigerians.
Bashir took Nigerians by surprise after he posted his pre-wedding pictures on Friday, November 13.
His caption “Nwakaego” has sparked mixed reactions from Nigerians who claim the marriage may be part of the grand plan to canvass votes from the South ahead of 2023 presidential poll
Bashir’s fiancée, Halima Nwakaego Kazaure who also shared the photos on her page wrote;
“From total strangers in the dms, 3 years later. Seems like just yesterday. The only person that can tolerate my excesses and perfectionism. Although you drive me all the way up the wall because you are the complete opposite of who I am and I am such a control freak.”
Although the tribe of Bashir’s fiancée is yet to be ascertained, many Nigerians claim the marriage may be a plot to cajole Igbos to support Nasir El-rufai’s presidential candidacy in 2023 poll.
The Herald in 2019 reported that campaign posters for Adams Oshiomhole and Nasir El-Rufai’s surfaced in some northern states.
The posters were circulated and sponsored by Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).
These are some reactions to Bashir El-rufai’s pre-wedding photos on Twitter.

Hmmmmm🙄😲😲😲. This might be another El-Rufai format to get vote from the south East, & perhaps south south. El-Rufai is a master planner. Anyway, congrats. I wish it’s real and you meant well.
@ebubec1
I wish them a blissful married life, but even if all of them marry Igbo, the man will not win a ward in the SE. the SE does not forget, the SS does not forget, even the Southern part of his state has not forgotten.
@emekaja4055
Nice if u truly love her.
I just hope it ain’t a ploy for ur bigoted father’s political ambitions.
@aminu_78
It’s funny how Muslims think they can marry Christian ladies but it’s a haram for Christian men to even approach Muslim ladies.
Just know a true Christian lady won’t marry you. You probably met one who cares about money than her faith.
@OmideyiOlaide
She is probably a Fulani lady. The fact that he called her his ‘Nwakaego’ does not make her an Igbo lady. He is not your inlaw or your ‘in geography’
@Dave_Eze1
Never underestimate the El-Rufai’s Nwakaego is just a political bridge, regardless nice move Bashir👍
@Chugailx
May your marriage be as blissful as Buhari’s Nigeria. May it be as wonderful as Buhari has treated #EndSARS protesters in the last few weeks.
@ojeleyeopeyemi
Your Buhari Nigeria is different from his Buhari Nigeria. #takenote
@Ovie_22
A political marriage to deceive gullible Nigerians that they are a detribalised family. 🙄🙄🙄
@GodblessNG1
