A mother, Funmisola Olaoye, has died of complications from injuries sustained in the August 21 building collapse at Adeleke Street, Bariga, Lagos.
Olaoye had lost her only son, Ayomide,12, when a tank scaffolding of a two-storey building under renovation collapsed on the nearby bungalow where she lived with him and another 27-year-old relative named Tosin, who also died instantly.
Olaoye died at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos, TheCable reports.
“She died at the Gbobi hospital where she had been admitted since the incident happened.
“The sad part is that the owner of the building where the structure collapsed has started renovating and didn’t contribute to the treatment of the woman till she lost her life,” the online newspaper quoted the victim’s neighbour named Hammed as saying.
Olaoye’s family reportedly spent over N300,000 to cater for her medical expenses after she sustained a spinal cord injury from the incident.
