Nigerian Billionaire, Femi Otedola has taken to Twitter to state that he will cease activities on the platform till he is verified.
He cited copycats and impersonators as the reason he is making this move as he has found it despicable that people would try to impersonate him for whatever reason.
The Billionaire was appalled when a fake Twitter account commiserated with the victims of the Lagos tanker explosion and even promised cash gifts to them
He tweeted yesterday: Good day to the online community. Due to the fraudulent and disingenuous exploitation of my persona on this platform, tweets from me on this account are suspended forthwith until I am verified by Twitter. Thank you. F.Ote$
He had earlier put up a thread expressing dismay at the people who were trying to deceive citizens using his name and also gave pointers on how people can recognise his account.

There has been a lot of tragedy in the land over the past few days and now more than ever, I believe it is imperative that we are able to demonstrate some level of empathy as a people to others that are/may be hurting as a result of these tragedies. #Thread

I think it is quite despicable that some internet trolls who must surely have the agency to engage in honest and meaningful work, have decided to leverage on my profile to deceive innocent people.

1. My handle is @realFemiOtedola using the small letter for “L” in real. Some of the fake accounts have used the capital letter for “i” so as to confuse you. Others have removed the “i” in “Femi”.
2. As at today, June 28 2018, 10:15pm, I have over 44,000 followers.

3. Accounts impersonating me have to have the word “parody” in their profile for Twitter to let them be. Unfortunately, this has not been enough as people still fall for these accounts. Please do not be deceived.

Going forward, I pray for God’s strength for grieving families and peace in our communities. May the souls of the departed Rest In Peace. F.Ote$
