Barcelona’s Luis Suarez will be sidelined for four months after the Uruguayan successful underwent a knee operation on Sunday.
Suarez suffered an injury to the external meniscus on his right knee and was operated on by Spanish surgeon Dr Ramon Cugat.
The former Liverpool man was in action in his side’s semi-final loss to Athletico Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup played in Saudi Arabia.
The 32-year-old has 14 goals in 23 games this season for Barcelona who are top of the Spanish La Liga level on points with rivals Real Madrid.
He is expected back sometime in May in time for the Champions League final should Barca get to that stage.
