Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has thrown the disappointment of drawing against Valencia in Saturday’s La Liga game at the Mestalla behind him, tipping the current champions to defend their La Liga title.
The 28-year-old centre back took to Twitter just after the game to express his confidence in the ability of the ‘Azulgranas’ to win the current league title.
He said: “Left feeling the same as last year after playing at the Sánchez Pizjuán. A shame about the draw, but I’m convinced we’ll win it [La Liga] again.”
The Sanchez Pizjuan is the home ground of La Liga side, Sevilla, where Barcelona managed to eke out a 3-2 win that landed the team the trophy on the last day of the league season.
Barcelona currently lead the league table with 34 points in 14 games, two points ahead of second-place Atletico Madrid and four points ahead of bitter rivals, Real Madrid, who occupy the third position.
