Barcelona President, Josep Maria Bartomeu had promised that “decisions” would be made after the club’s 2-8 bashing by Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
Barely three days after, manager Quique Setien was shown the exit door and Director of Football, Eric Abidal followed a day after.
Bartomeu has however named seven players that would not be sold despite the ongoing shake-up.

Speaking to Barca TV, he identified six-time Ballon D’Or winner, Lionel Mess as the first player that would stay back at the club.
“He knows that. He’s the best player in the world.
“We’d also be talking about [Marc-Andre] ter Stegen, [Nelson] Semedo, [Frenkie] de Jong, [Clement] Lenglet, [Ousmane] Dembele… [Antoine] Griezmann too.”

Although the club’s president did not mention Ansu Fati, he previously stated that the 17-year-old would not be leaving Camp Nou anytime soon.
Bartomeu’s declaration, however, puts the future of senior players like Jordi Alba, Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Ivan Rakitic, Arturo Vidal and Luis Suarez in the balance.
