Nigeria’s solely licensed sports radio, 88.9 Brila FM, is set to add to its already loaded and exciting content as the station obtains the exclusive rights to air the Champions League commentaries of matches of Barcelona FC of Spain in Nigeria.
The deal takes effect from Wednesday, December 5 when the station takes live commentaries straight from the Camp Nou when the Blaugrana lock horns against their Portuguese counterparts, Benfica in the competition.
The rights, another addition to an interesting array that includes the English Premier League, Capital One Cup (formerly known as Carling Cup) the English FA Cup and home matches of all the national teams in the country, is expected to generate thrills among soccer lovers as Barcelona, with its galaxy of stars, continue to add to its tremendous fan base across the world, Nigeria included, owing to the club’s unique playing style, talented players and undying thirst for laurels.
And sports radio, keen as ever at delivering its promise to inform and entertain sports fans in the country has gone a length further in its bid to satisfy numerous listeners through continual content enrichment.
The executive chairman of the organization, Dr. Larry Izamoje, in a statement released shortly after the rights acquisition, reiterated the commitment of Sports Radio 88.9 Brila FM which recently added Kaduna and Onitsha to its Lagos and Abuja arms, to fish across the world for relevant and interesting content, all aimed at improving the sports goodies traditionally associated with the station.
