Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique has had his contract at the club extended by three years.
According to a club statement, the player’s buyout clause has also been upgraded to €500 million, which should keep other clubs at bay.
With the renewal, Pique will remain with the La Liga giants until June 30, 2022.
He joined Barcelona as a 10-year-old in 1997, and has gone on to win 25 trophies while playing 422 games and scoring 37 goals for the Blaugrana.
He left La Masia, the club’s famed academy, to join Manchester United in 2004.

He returned to Barcelona in 2008, where he has helped the club win 3 Champions Leagues, 6 LaLiga titles, 5 Copa del Reys, 5 Spanish Supercopas, 3 European Supercups and 3 Club World Cups.
