Popular musician, Runtown has tackled the Federal Government’s decision to ban infamous insecticide, Sniper.
According to the artiste, banning Sniper only tackles how people commit suicide not why people commit suicide.
The musician, whose real name is Douglas Jack Agu, stated this why reacting to the announcement by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) banning open sales of Sniper.
The agency said that the ban became necessary because the recent wave of suicide cases across the country has been linked to the intake of Sniper.
However, Runtown said banning the product would not address the fundamental reasons pushing people to kill themselves.
According to him, “Banning Sniper only tackles HOW people commit suicide not WHY people commit suicide.
“It’s like going to dry up the Lagos Lagoon because people use it as a tool for committing suicide. To truly curb this epidemic, we must focus on the reason WHY people do it.”
