Renowned Nigerian singer-turned-blogger, Samklef, recently shed light on a pivotal chapter of his career involving his former record label boss, Banky W, and how it impacted his trajectory in the entertainment industry. This revelation came during a discussion addressing the alleged reluctance of certain record label leaders to condemn the reported harassment faced by the late singer, Mohbad.
The music producer unveiled that Banky W played a significant role in initiating a campaign to discredit him back in 2012, along with a friend from Soundcity, marking a challenging period for his career.
Samklef emphasized that Banky W’s hesitance to openly criticize individuals like Naira Marley and Sam Larry, both implicated in the alleged mistreatment of the late Mohbad, stems from his own past actions. He noted that the distinction in Banky’s case lies in the level of violence, asserting that Banky W was not as physically aggressive as Naira Marley.
In a tweet, Samklef stated, “Banky W: The individual who initiated my personal cancel culture! 2012 And one of his friends in Soundcity…he is now a pastor lol. Fellow artists, it’s time to share your genuine experiences! Don’t hesitate! The reason many of them remain quiet about this matter is that they are aware of their own involvement. They were not just violent like Naira Marley!”
