During a recent interview, Banky W (Olubankole Wellington) , acknowledged not releasing an album in nearly 4 years, and said he had spent this time attempting to develop his record album “Empire Mates Entertainment” (E.M.E) and that he also invested this time signing gifted artists.
While speaking about his new album, says he was going after a more mature tone and said as he grows in the business, he has to keep re-inventing himself to reflect current realities.
He is quoted as saying ”I am into dance and rap (a little)”, during this 15 min interview, he spoke about some of the new acts he signed up as the Chairman of Empire Mates Entertainment E.M.E., some of this artist include Wizkid, Skales, Shaydee, Niyola and Dj Exclusive.
When asked to comment about his supposed break up with Wizkid, he said “When you do not give bad news, the media has a way they create one”, he says wizkid a is fantastic artist and that he acknowledged that wizkid wants to start his own label and that they came to an understanding on his departure strategy, he said that people are just hungry for bad news, while explaining, he cited cases where he was attributed as saying certain things which happen to be pure fabrications, to further disprove critics, he said that wizkid is still on E.M.E label and that he would support whatever wizkid decided to do with respect to his career in the nearest future.
When asked about his relationship status, Mr Banky said “I am still single but I date from time to time”, he further said that “I want to do the right thing and do this (Marriage) once”, and he put to rest the rumours that he is in a relationship with Niyola when asked, by describing her as a little sister. Banky W said he loves music, cooking and teaching and says if he could, he would like to teach English language, he attributed his love for teaching to the respect he has for his English teacher while in secondary school.
