Nigeria has been thrown into mud as Katie Hopkins, the British media personality, made a mockery statement against the citizens of the country over a fire outbreak that occurred in Lagos Island area of the state

It all started on Tuesday, November 5,  fire gutted a shopping complex on Martin Street, Lagos Island area of Lagos state. A security guard was spotted in a video using a bucket to scoop water and try to quench the fire with it went viral.

Katie Hopkins reshared it with a caption that shames Nigeria. She wrote: “Next time you want to criticise our fantastic British firefighters, be glad you aren’t Nigeria.”

The Herald earlier reported that fire engulfed a shopping complex on Martin Street on the Lagos Island . According to reports, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency and Lagos State Fire Service have been deployed to put out the inferno.

The reports claimed that  many traders are attempting to salvage as much of their goods as possible from the burning building.

Ashimi noted that a second building close to the shopping complex has also caught fire. He said: “Our men are on their way there as well. We don’t know the extent of the fire yet.”
