Crime Ballot box snatchers disrupt polls in Edo, kill three voters in Delta Last updated: 2019/02/24 at 5:43 AM Share 1 Min Read Three persons reportedly lost their lives, while two others sustained gunshot injuries in Delta State after being shot by suspected ballot box snatchers. The incident happened at Amope in Sapele Local Government Area of the state on Saturday while accreditation and voting were going on. The hoodlums allegedly started shooting sporadically to scare away voters, election officers and party agents around polling units on Old Eku Road, Amope. Two voters, who were hit by bullets were said to have died instantly while one other person died at the hospital he was rushed to. It was also gathered that some security agents at the polling units reportedly ran for their safety. However, the eventual arrival of soldiers thwarted the hoodlums’ attempt to snatch ballot boxes at the units. They (hoodlums) reportedly succeeded in escaping from the scene. However, three persons who allegedly attempted to snatch a ballot box in Edo statestate repelled by voters. The incident occurred at ward 6, unit 44, located inside Ugiomon Secondary School, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area. It was gathered that the voters resisyed the armed hoodlums until the police arrived.
