Former Brazil and Real Madrid defender Roberto Carlos believes the best players in the world are Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, in that order.
Carlos expressed this in an interview with Brazilian sport publication Globosporte, Goal.com reported.
Furthermore, he said that Neymar will win the FIFA Ballon D’Or in a year or two, which will end the domination of the best individual award in football by Messi and Ronaldo.
The pair have won the award 7 times between them since 2008, with Messi winning it four times against Ronaldo’s three.
“When I am asked about Messi and Cristiano I say that Neymar is the best for me.
“It is not just for his goals, but for the ease with which he plays and the confidence he has.
“Neymar is going to have a Ballon d’Or in one or two years because he is going to deserve it,” he said.
The retired left back equally joined the debate on the better player between Messi and Ronaldo, choosing Ronaldo over the diminutive Argentine.
While defending his choice of the Portugal international, Carlos said Ronaldo has contributed more individually to Real Madrid’s success than Messi to Barcelona.
According to him, Messi has an array of quality stars in Barcelona including Neymar and Suarez, an opportunity he believes Ronaldo does not have at Los Blancos.
