General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd), Nigeria’s former Military Head of State, said efforts made to reconcile Nigerians in the aftermath of the civil war have had limited impact.
The Herald gathered that Babangida urged the federal government to do more by consistently pushing hard to achieve their objectives.
He, however, commended initiatives such as the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the unity schools set up across the country.

According to him, “For example, the NYSC, unity schools. I think we didn’t push it hard. We should have pushed all those hard so that people from different parts of the country can say that we met at unity schools together.”
Meanwhile, The Herald reported that Babangida had announced his search for a new wife. During an interview with The Sun, General Ibrahim gave an in depth description of the exact type of woman that he wanted.
IBB noted that he would not like to marry a woman that is much younger than he is because it would be a problem for both the woman and himself.
He noted that he was afraid that the new wife may not be able to live the way he lived with his late wife and former First Lady, Maryam.
