Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr is venturing into the Nigerian movie industry, Nollywood, with her acting debut in Prime Video’s original film ‘Christmas In Lagos’. The 22-year-old Grammy-nominated artist joins a growing list of musicians exploring acting careers.
‘Christmas In Lagos’ is a romantic comedy directed by Jadesola Osiberu, starring Teniola A. Aladese, Shalom C. Obiago, Rayxia Ojo, Shaffy Bello, and Adekunle Gold. The movie follows a heartbroken woman who convinces her best friend that she’s the love of her life.
Ayra Starr’s involvement in the film was praised by director Osiberu, who told Variety that the singer represents “what it means to be young and female and daring and brave and fearless – just being yourself.”
The movie features a star-studded cast, including musicians Wurld and Liya, with a soundtrack featuring legendary artists like Sunny Ade, Flavour, and D’banj.
