Former Arsenal defender Martin Keown has stated that striker, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang let the team down in their draw against Sporting Lisbon.
Arsenal came into the game needing only a win to guarantee top spot in the group and while their draw gave them qualification, it still means there’s something to play for.
Aubameyang came on for the injured Welbeck on 29 minutes but was unable to add to his impressive Arsenal tally
When he did have a chance, he was brought down by Jeremy Mathieu which resulted in a red card, however, Arsenal were unable to make the most of it.
Keown was unhappy and felt the Gabonese striker could have done better.
“Aubameyang really let them down a little bit in front of goal,” he said on BT Sport

“He’s a player I rate really very highly. I think tonight with the injury it caught him out because he wasn’t ready mentally and I think on another night he would have put these chances away.
“He [Aubameyang] is the closest thing to Thierry Henry since he left that club. He really is that good.
“Someone should really be in his camp pushing him on, dragging him, drawing a performance out of him.
“Because he’s a special talent, scores lots of goals and it’s just a hunger. It’s getting to that boiling point and I don’t think he was there tonight.” Keown concluded about Aubameyang
