International Italian Striker Alessio Cerci has agreed to a three year contract with La Liga Champions Atletico Madrid.
The news was confirmed on Sunday evening by Atletico Madrid in a statement.
It reads, ” Atletico Madrid and Torino FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of Alessio Cerci, pending the appropriate medical examination and signing of contract by the player. The Italian international will commit for the next three seasons.”
The Roman player, one of the best assistants Serie A, will join Atletico after developing throughout his career in Italy.
Cerci is international with the Azzurri, with which he participated in the World Cup and the Confederations Cup in Brazil. The attacker comes highly rated by Torino FC, a team with which in the last two seasons, he scored 21 goals and made 19 assists.
Atletico Madrid reportedly outbid Arsenal, AS Monaco and AC Milan to acquire the 27-year-old for £16m.
The Italian who was left out of the squad for Saturday’s match against Inter Milan will leave for Spain today against a medical
scheduled for Monday.
Cerci will be joining Antoine Griezmann, Mario Mandzukic and Raul Jimenez in Diego Simeone’s squad.
