Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has shared a photo of him exercising in apparent response to the claim by the presidency that President Muhammadu Buhari trekked 800 metres yesterday.
Atiku, who has declared his intention to contest for the presidency in 2019 under the PDP, shared the photo via his verified Twitter handle.
He added that he jogs more than one mile daily but would not make an issue of it like the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.
A mile is approximately 1.6 kilometres, double the distance covered by Buhari.
In a Tuesday statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, Buhari trekked from Eid ground to his home in Daura, Katsina State, a distance of 800 metres.
But Atiku said, “I regularly jog more than a mile and exercise, but it will be pedestrian of me to ask Nigerians to vote for me because of that.
“I want my party – the PDP, and Nigerians, to vote for me because I WORK not because I WALK. I will work to create jobs. I won’t walk to create an illusion.”
